About the Authors

A connection based on shared passion.

How it all began…

As with many connections, our first meeting was facilitated by a shared passion... in our case, a passion for getting children and families out into nature, a shared understanding of the importance that nature connection holds in order to protect the future of our planet.

Alongside our shared passion, our paths have been similar and our personalities and talents compliment each other. We each have two young children and strong involvement with our local communities, we both have a history in Primary School Teaching, and a shared interest in the importance of play and freedom during childhood. Together we undertook Forest School Leader Training in early 2018 and worked together to run nature connection groups for families and home educated children.

The Adventures of Ash and Indigo came about as we moved away from facilitating nature connection groups in order to spend more time with our own growing families. After a lot of thought on how we could continue to facilitate nature connection among children and families, while honouring our own families current needs The Adventures of Ash and Indigo was conceived!

We work closely together to ensure our values align with our practice and we delight in creating stories for your family to enjoy

There is a wild magic
A language that I am relearning
Calling me back to remembering
It’s in the bird song, the stillness of rock
It’s everywhere,
It is in me.

I watch my children play in the wild, their unrelenting curiosity and wonder, overflowing with joy and vitality. The more than human world has become our classroom, greatest teacher and friend.

Exploring deep nature connection within myself and with children sets me alight with excitement and possibility. I know that kids who are connected to the wild part of themselves and the world are deeply invested in its thriving.

I believe at this time on earth we need stories that explore different ways of being. The Adventures of Ash and Indigo are these stories.

Lying on the bank of the mighty Murry river, in the mottled shade of a red river gum, the laughter of my cousins playing close by. A feeling of peace.

The gum tree in my suburban front yard, a sneaky foothold and a branch reaching above the footpath. A feeling of invisibility.

A grassy hill, rolling and rolling, over and over, spinning and skipping and laughing. A feeling of joy.

A little bird, a broken foot, clasped gently in my fingers, knowing I could save her. A feeling of power.

When I think of my childhood, my mind drifts to the natural spaces I wandered through and the feelings that they invoked. Those feelings inform my current wanderings through life, through parenthood, through my desire to protect the earth we walk on, through finding opportunities to gift these powerful feelings to others. To protect the earth, we must value her, to value her, we must know her. I hope that The Adventures of Ash and Indigo works to inspire this knowing.

Our Vision is of connected communities where people find their place within the natural world, igniting learning through joy and passion while inspiring a wholistic approach to regenerative living that is informed by honouring the past, experiencing the present and dreaming of the future.
